The New York Times reports that congressional Democrats see no clear way forward on the health care bill, and that they may delay consideration of it for some time.
Update: According to TalkingPointsMemo, House Democrats are coalescing around the idea of passing the Senate bill (which would then be ready for the President's signature) as well as a separate bill that would remedy its defects. The latter bill would be adopted through the legislative process known as reconciliation, which does not permit filibusters and thus requires only 51 votes in the Senate. The two big questions about this strategy are whether the Senate will be willing to sign onto it, and whether President Obama will make a push for the completion of health care reform in the State of the Union. Stay tuned!
